Mermaids?

Okay, so this post isn't exactly about "The People." It's more about this book idea I have...
What do you think about Mermaids?
Yes, underwater, scaley fins, seashell-bra mermaids.
I'm thinking about writing a story about them.
Ava and Eve, two of the last twelve Mermaids left on the Earth, left to die because the ocean is overheating with that whole global-warming thing. They're thinking about life when poachers come along and declare that they're out to get them. Ava falls in love with a human, which really sucks, because his dad is one of the poachers. And Eve provokes the other poacher, nearly killing herself, and now the poachers are out for Eve and Ava. And this whole time the poor boy is in love with a pretty much dead mermaid. Who, in fact, are pretty dangerous. Mermaids are strong and poisonous and not all that fun to be around, but they're pretty and can be sweet and that's why this kid is trying to save their race while his dad is trying to kill them all. Fun.
