Okay, so I had a dream last night, and now I'm having a totally freaky Stephenie Meyer moment. (If you have no idea what I'm taking about, Stephenie Meyer wrote her totally-awesome books based on a dream she had.) It was a really strange dream... I couldn't figure out what the character's names were, but there was only a boy and a girl, so I'll just call them Boy and Girl until I can determine their names. Here it goes...
Characters: Boy and Girl
Scene: A long, uphill dirt road leading into a forest.
Everything was spinning. I grasped at my side, unsure about where I was. I had to keep moving forward, no matter what, but I was getting so tired, so drowsy and... dizzy. I pushed myself another couple of feet. I was going to get there, no matter what, because I needed the truth. This had all gone too far.
I clasped at my side with my other hand, my side aching and my breathing becoming heavy. I could feel something wet at my feet, something puncturing them, and then I remembered I had left without putting shoes on. The pain of the glass between my toes was lost in the agony of what I was about to do.
I continued to march forward. There was no stopping now, not for anything.
Something rushed by me, sending a cool breeze across my cheek. It wasn't until a couple of seconds later that I realized that the something was a someone. Not just a someone, but several someones. It looked like runners, but I couldn't tell. Something wet and hot was covering my eyes. It tasted alot like blood. Blood, and tears. Those couldn't be runners. Who would want to run on a road like this? A road of glass and gravel, a road that never ended...
I couldn't take it anymore. Gasping and panting, I sunk into the rough soil. Maybe I could go on, but not at the moment. I needed to stop. Just for a minute or two, and then I could get back up and march on again. I let my eyes drift shut, not caring about how I looked, a bleeding, sweaty teenager lying on the side of a dirt road. Let them stare...
I don't know how long I was asleep for. Or if I was even asleep. Maybe I was just in a state of nothingness. Waiting for an awakening. Well my awakening came. It was something hot and humid, breathing across my neck, but something wouldn't let me open my eyes to see what. Or maybe my eyes were open, just that sweat and blood were blocking my vision. Sweat and blood. I must have looked terrible to the creature breathing on me.
I could feel something hard and long slip beneath me. Hard and long, like an arm, only it wasn't like any human arm I could think of. It was as hard as stone, but gentle as ever, and hot like a fire. It burned my skin. I tried to scream, but I couldn't hear anything. I tried to scream again, this time more out of fear than pain. I felt the hand clasp across my mouth to silence me, and I coughed. The hand stroked my face. I sank into the statue holding me up.
I tried to open my eyes again, this time fighting for my vision. I yelled and shouted and moaned, but nothing happened.
"Shh," someone whispered, "it's okay."
"No it's not," I said. I could hear my voice now. "The glass, my feet, they hurt."
The stone person lifted me up with ease. I tried to find my vision now, this time successful. I brushed the red away from my eyes. Boy's face looked down at me.
"What- what are you doing?" I cried, trying to fight my way out of his strong hold.
"Rescuing you," he answered. "What were you thinking, Girl? You could have gotten yourself killed."
"No, Boy, no," I cried. I was looking my vision again. The red was taking over. "I need to go back, I have to go back. You don't understand!"
"Please, Girl, you have to trust me," he whispered in my ear. I could feel the runners whooshing by us again.
"Who are those people?" I asked him, trying to open my eyes. I hadn't slept in days.
"Shh, girl, shh," he pleaded. "Those things, they can't hear us, we can't let them hear us. They probably saw you when you fell. They're probably going to get reinforcement."
"Reinforcement?" I asked. I didn't think I was hearing things right.
"Shh," he whispered again.
I couldn't fight him anymore. I sunk into his stone arms, letting the redness conquer me.

Though that this was pretty weird...
